The quoting application allows users to enter the current package plans and member assignments for a group. It then automatically generates renewal package plans based on established Plan Maintenance rules and programming logic. In the quoting system, this process is designated as “Roll To,” while in Plan Maintenance, the corresponding term is “Replacement.”
The Plan Maintenance team issues a new Medical Plan ID for every plan effective January 1st. The main reason for this is that most plan benefits are updated starting on January 1st, and assigning a new Plan ID also helps ensure the “Roll To” process from current to renewal is handled correctly in the quoting application.
A “Roll To” refers to the process in which a group’s effective date transitions from December 1st to January 1st, or from any previous year date to a new calendar year date. In some cases, a replacement package and plan may be generated; however, there may also be instances where no replacement is available.
